2014 Western State Conference Swim and Dive Headlines
The Ventura College Men’s Swim team and the Bakersfield College Women’s Swim team paced the efforts by Western State Conference schools at the 2014 CCCAA State Swim and Dive Championships this past weekend. The Pirates finished 6th overall with 240 points while the Renegades were 10th overall with 172 points.
Valley Glen, CA -- The Ventura College Men’s Swim program and the Bakersfield College Women’s Swim program went wire to wire, leading all three days of the 2014 Western State Conference Swimming and Diving Championships to claim their respective team titles. The Pirates won with a total of 615 points, while the Renegades won with 607 points.
Valley Glen, CA -- The Bakersfield College Women’s Swim and Ventura College Men’s Swim teams continued to hang on to their leads in the team standings through day number two of the 2014 Western State Conference Swimming and Diving Championships. The Renegades held a 30 point lead over LA Valley College as of day’s end, while Ventura was up 34 points over Cuesta College.
Valley Glen, CA -- The Bakersfield College Women’s Swim and Ventura College Men’s Swim team both took the lead after the first day of competition at the 2014 Western State Conference Swim and Dive Championships. The Renegades amassed 185 points, while the Pirates grabbed 208.
Former Ventura College standout swimmer Henry Chung, who is now swimming for the University of California Berkely, was recently given his award for being named the California Community College Sports Information Association California Community College Athletic Association Male Athlete of the Year for the 2012-2013 season
Ventura College Sophomore swimmer Henry Chung was named the 2013 California Community College Athletic Association California Community College Sports Information Association State Male Athlete of the Year recently.
The Ventura College Women’s Swim team and the Cuesta College Men’s Swim team won their respected Western State Conference Championships recently. Ventura scored 828 total points, while Cuesta totaled 762 points over the three day swim championships.
The Western State Conference was represented well at the 20013 California Community College Athletic Association State Championships this past weekend. Women’s champion Ventura College had the highest placing by a WSC team, taking 3rd overall, while the Men’s champion Cuesta College had the highest placing by a WSC team, taking 4th overall.
