After leading his Glendale College squad to their first ever WSC title, Head Coach Joel Weiss was named the 2019 WSC East Coach of the Year. He was joined at the top of the honors list by Citrus College sophomore forward Kyannie Brown, who helped power the Owls to a second place finish.
Weiss took over the GCC program three season ago and began the process of creating a program that would three years later be one of the top teams in Southern California en route to their first every conference title. The Vaqueros finished the regular season 21-5 and 9-1 in WSC East play.
Brown was a consistent threat throughout the season for the Owls. Brown averaged 17.4 points per game and 9.1 rebounds a contest. She finished as the leading scorer in the WSC East and the third leading rebounder in the division, just behind teammate Keely Wall and Glendale's Sylvia Vartazarian. She also averaged 1.3 blocks and 1.2 steals a game.
