Moorpark Takes WSC North Title Outright in Five Set Thriller
The Moorpark College women's volleyball program earned an outright claim to the Western State Conference (North) crown after a five set thriller over LA Mission College. The Raiders closed the league slate with a record of 11-1 over conference foes while finishing the regular season with an overall mark of 22-4. This marks the first outright title for MPC since 2019 and is the 14th overall WSC title in program history.
Sophomore duo Alesia Thomas and Grace Hazelton split the offensive load on the outside for the team with just over 10 total attacks per set. Thomas finished atop the team standings with 3.87 kills per set while Hazelton recorded 3.53. Gaby Schirado paced the offense as a setter, totaling 932 assists on the season with 9.61 per set, while Abby Montana led the team with 57 total blocks. Prior Borick rounded out the top performers with 350 digs (3.98/set) and ranked second in the state with 0.80 service aces per set (70 total).
