Bakersfield's Dickson Named POY; Taylor Wins Second Straight COY
Bakersfield College freshman forward DeAndre Dickson was named the Western State Conference South Division Player of the Year on Sunday afternoon. Antelope Valley College Head Men's Basketball Coach John Taylor took home the other major award of the day, being named the Coach of the Year for the second straight season.

Antelope Valley College Head Men's Basketball Coach John Taylor took home the other major award of the day, being named the Coach of the Year for the second straight season.
Dickson was a force for the Renegades in 2014-2015 averaging 17.7 points and 11.8 rebounds a game. He was sixth in the entire WSC in scoring and first in rebounding. He converted 49.2% of his shots from the field and 73.3% of his attempts from the charity stripe. He was 6th in the WSC in free-throw attempts, five attempts per contest. Dickson also proved deft at other aspects of the game averaging 2.5 assists a game and 2.6 blocks per contest. Dickson led the entire conference in blocks and was 7th in the whole State in the same category. Dickson prepped at Washington Union High School in Easton, CA.
Taylor meanwhile led the Marauders to a 25-5 overall record and 13-1 record in WSC South play. It's Antelope's second season competing in the WSC South, and their second straight conference championship.
