Merced, Calif. - After a heartbreaking double overtime loss to Riverside in the 3C2A Semifinals, the Santa Barbara women's water polo team rebounded with a 14-13 overtime victory over Orange Coast to capture third place at the 2025 3C2A Women's Water Polo Championships on Saturday.
Despite falling behind early, goals from freshmen Avery Jensen, Sophie McGehee, and Pamela Hernandez quickly brought the Vaqueros back into the game to bring about a thrilling back-and-forth second half that was knotted up at 11 all with 4:49 remaining before the score was tied at 12-12 at the end of regulation.
But Jensen took the game over in overtime, scoring both goals for SBCC of her five total. Freshman Katie Strohl added five, while McGehee chipped in a pair.
