Melody Mallette to Join WSC Staff as Sports Information Director
Melody Mallette has been named as the next Sports Information Director for the Western State Conference. Her primary responsibilities will be media relations, statistical coordination, digital content creation, branding, marketing, and website management.

We look forward to her leadership in strengthening the WSC brand, engaging our communities, and preserving the league’s rich history.”
Mallette most recently served as the Director of Kinesiology and Athletics at Butte College from September 2021 to July 2024, adding the title of Deputy Title IX Coordinator in May 2023. During her tenure with the Roadrunners, Mallette launched the department's social media presence, revamped the athletics website through PrestoSports, and established recognition programs for scholar-athletes. Under her leadership, multiple programs earned conference and state honors including two individual 3C2A Scholar Athlete of the Year recipients and five Scholar Team of the Year honorees. Mallette also partnered with several sponsors in the community to enhance athletic department visibility for Butte. In addition to her daily duties, Mallette also served as a representative on numerous leadership committees at both the state and national levels and helped earn the institution's first-ever national Scholar Athlete of the Year.
Her background in sports information includes serving as Sports Information Specialist at El Camino College, where she oversaw website management, statistics, media relations, and award nominations for 22 athletic programs. Her time with the Warriors saw a significant boost in the department's social media presence by more than 300 percent. Mallette has also supported athletics communications at institutions including Oregon State, UC Riverside, Solano College, Golden West College, Long Beach City College, Compton College, and numerous NCAA and CIF events.
A graduate of Oregon State University with a degree in Liberal Studies and Speech Communication, Mallette brings extensive experience in writing, media relations, and game-day operations. She also has a master's degree from Gonzaga University in Sport and Athletic Administration.
