Santa Monica’s Nwaba, and Canyons’ Fisher Earn Top WSC South Awards
Santa Monica College freshman David Nwaba and College of the Canyons Head Men’s Basketball Coach Howard Fisher were named the Western State Conference South Division Player of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively.
Santa Monica College freshman David Nwaba and College of the Canyons Head Men's Basketball Coach Howard Fisher were named the Western State Conference South Division Player of the Year and Coach of the Year respectively.
In his freshman campaign Nwaba lit up the WSC South averaging 20.5 points per game on 55.3% shooting from the floor. Nwaba also averaged 8.1 rebounds, 2.5 assists, and 3.5 steals per game for the Corsairs.
Fisher meanwhile, led the Cougars to a 21-9 overall record and Canyons' first WSC South title since they shared the title with Bakersfield College back in 2007.
