Citrus College freshman Chris Reyes was named the Western State Conference South Division Player of the Year on Sunday afternoon. Glendale College's Brian Beauchemin and Antelope Valley College's John Taylor meanwhile were named the WSC South Co-Coaches of the Year.
Reyes took the Western State Conference by storm leading the entire WSC in blocks (3.7 bpg), rebounds (12.0 rpg), and field goal percentage (59.7%), and finished third overall in scoring (18.7 ppg). Reyes posted a double-double in eight of the twelve conference contests, and posted season highs of rebounds (24 vs Santa Monica), blocks (9 at Bakersfield), and points (28 at Antelope Valley) all throughout the course of conference play.
Beauchemin guided the Vaqueros of Glendale to a 21-5 overall record and 9-3 record in WSC South play. It was a banner year for Beauchemin as he also moved to fourth all-time on CCCAA Men's Basketball career wins list with #589.
Taylor meanwhile took the Marauders to a 26-4 record and 11-1 mark in WSC South play in 2014, their first as members of the Western State Conference. Antelope Valley will most assuredly be one of the top four teams when the CCCAA Southern California Playoff seedings are announced tomorrow afternoon.
