Cuesta Sweeps Post-Season WSC North Men’s Basketball Awards
The Cuesta College Men’s Basketball program swept the top Western State Conference North Division Men’s Basketball awards. Sophomore Oscar Pedroso was named the conference’s Most Valuable Player, while Head Coach Rusty Blair was named the WSC North Coach of the Year.

Pedroso followed up his 1st team All-WSC North freshman campaign with an outstanding sophomore campaign. Pedroso averaged 18 points, 5.2 rebounds, and 2.2 assists a game. Pedroso converted 46.2% of his shots from the floor and shot 36.6% from beyond the 3-point arc, and 78% at the charity stripe. On February 5th, Pedroso had a banner night, scoring a season high 35 points on 10 of 14 shooting from the floor, while leading the Cougars to a crucial 93-90 win against Allan Hancock College. Pedroso was also 5 of 8 from three and 10 of 11 at the free-throw line that night.
Pedroso's Coach, Rusty Blair earned his sixth WSC Coach of the Year award. Cuesta went 21-9 on the season and 10-2 in WSC North play, winning their 8th conference championship. The Cougars will not wait for their seed in the upcoming CCCAA Southern California Playoffs which will be announced on Monday afternoon.
